Climate Reality is devastated by the news that Alfredo Sirkis, branch director for Climate Reality Brazil and executive director of Centro Brasil no Clima, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020 at the age of 69. Alfredo lived his life with a passion for defending what he believed to be right. He was a relentless activist in Rio de Janeiro and in the Amazon jungle of Acre alongside Chico Mendes. He traveled the world, first as a political exile and then as a politician, before spending his last years with our organization, doing what he could to advance policy solutions to the climate crisis in Brazil.

Our hearts and thoughts are with his family and our Brazil team. He will be sorely missed.
