WINNIPEG: MADE FROM WHAT'S GREEN

On October 28, 2026, Winnipeg will be voting in our next mayor and city council.

We invited all Winnipeggers to participate in building a climate and environment policy agenda that clearly communicates what we want from our next city council when it comes to climate and environmental action.

We asked: what does a climate-friendly, affordable, thriving Winnipeg look like to you?

01

A public townhall featuring expert presentations.

This was followed by breakout groups where almost a hundred community members brainstormed solutions across 8 theme areas. Following the townhall, solutions were grouped and evaluated for municipal jurisdiction to produce a shortlist of 3-4 solutions per theme, and participants were invited to rate the importance of the top solutions for each theme through an online voting process.

02

Conversations with organizations working in each area.

This served as an opportunity  learn more about city context and discuss their priority advocacy issues.

03

A review of city’s plans and policies, as well as additional background research.

The People's Climate Mandate prioritizes solutions that are already in the city’s own plans, but in many cases have not been fully implemented.
