ABOUT

The Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley’s recent climate engagement includes climate-action programming such as the Clean Commute Expo (May 2024) and new resilience-focused initiatives like partnering with the Town of Canmore to support residents/neighbourhoods becoming FireSmart.

Their ongoing programs are WildSmart (human–wildlife coexistence education, and outreach), ClimateSmart (community projects/workshops on low-carbon transportation, buildings, renewables, and waste), and Future Leaders (youth environmental education).

The Biosphere also has a community Hub program that empowers local leadership, amplifies diverse voices, and explores multiple ways of knowing in climate action and community resilience across the Bow Valley.

Calls to action: take their free “How to Be WildSmart” course, sign up for updates (e.g., newsletters/Bear Report), and get involved by volunteering or donating to support local climate and coexistence work in the Bow Valley.

The Climate Reality Project Canada’s office is located on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg Nations. Our organization honours, recognizes and respects these Nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and waters on which we are today.
