Carl Duivenvoorden

Board Member

Carl was raised on a dairy farm in northern New Brunswick. His diverse early agricultural career took him to over 25 countries. But from his early days growing up in Belledune, Carl always had an uneasy concern about human impacts on our global environment. In 2006, he read “An Inconvenient Truth”, the book that catapulted climate change onto the global agenda. In April 2007, he became one of the first Canadians to be personally trained by former US Vice President Al Gore to present live versions of his Academy Award-winning slideshow. Since then, Carl has worked as a speaker, writer and sustainability consultant, helping people and organizations save money, energy and our environment. He’s presented to over 500 audiences, and his column Green Ideas ran for 10 years in New Brunswick dailies. Carl cares deeply about our global environment. He believes climate change can be solved, but it will take all of us, working together. He looks forward to sharing thoughts on where we are, where we need to go and how we’ll get there, together.

The Climate Reality Project Canada’s office is located on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg Nations. Our organization honours, recognizes and respects these Nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and waters on which we are today.
