  • Statement on Canada's low climate ambitions at the 2021 Leaders Summit on Climate

In order to reach its fair share target, Canada needs to reduce GHG emissions by 60% below 2005 levels by 2030. Today's decision to increase our target to 40% is better, but not good enough to reach that goal and ensure an equitable contribution. Our closest peers are setting more ambitious goals than us. The US just announced its plan to cut emissions by 50%-52% from 2005 levels by 2030, and the EU committed to cut theirs by 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels. It is unacceptable and inequitable that Canada cannot at least meet the same targets as our peers.

Climate Action Through Art — Climate Reality Canada is excited to join a global movement demanding ambitious action from the political leaders who are set to convene this November

at the 27th of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in

    Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

Combining visual arts and poetry, When Is Now is an impassioned appeal

to imagine a sustainable world and express solidarity with the populations most

vulnerable to climate change. The effects of the climate crisis are already

being felt and art is a powerful tool in the sharing of these stories.
