Judy Fainstein

Judy became a Climate Reality Leader in the first Canadian training (Montreal 2008). She has been Lead Mentor for BC since 2009 and participated in 7 Climate Reality Leadership Corps Trainings as mentor. She is the founding creator of YesBC (Youth for Environmental Stewardship www.yesbc.ca), a grassroots non-profit organization that empowers youth as environmental leaders. She has a wide range of experience in both the public and private sectors. Since 2013, she’s been the Director of Operations for Andrew Weaver, Member of the Legislative Assembly of BC and a Lead Author of the IPCC reports. She was Campaign Manager for Andrew Weaver in his historic run to become the first elected Green member of the BC Legislature in 2013 and for his re-election in 2017. Judy is passionate about providing leadership opportunities for youth and creating platforms to have their voices heard on issues that matter to them. She is currently Co-Chair of the BC Green Party Leader’s Youth Advisory Council, an initiative she started with Andrew Weaver to engage youth directly in our democracy. Judy and her husband have 2 adult sons, having raised them in Victoria where they have lived since 1980.
