PRAIRIES
HUBS

As home to Canada’s oil and gas industry, the Prairies endure severe climate consequences, experiencing intensifying drought, extreme heat, and agricultural disruption. At the same time, the region also has a ripe and growing renewable energy sector that increases public awareness of climate impacts, creating opportunities for bold municipal climate policy, even in ostensibly politically challenging environments.

Through grassroots advocacy tackling issues intersecting climate and justice, Community Climate Hubs in the Prairies are making gains on policies around clean energy, public transportation, and maximum heat by-laws.

The Climate Reality Project Canada’s office is located on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg Nations. Our organization honours, recognizes and respects these Nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and waters on which we are today.
