What is your role at The Climate Reality Project Canada?

I'm the Community Climate Hubs Manager at The Climate Reality Project Canada. I get to work alongside amazing regional organizers, regional engagement advisors, and volunteers to build a strong network of community-based climate action Hubs across so-called Canada. I love that my day-to-day involves supporting our Hubs, developing new resources, and shaping our strategic direction. It's an incredible opportunity to make a real difference at the grassroots level and I’m excited to build the program further!

Why did you join the climate movement/what pushed you to become interested in climate change issues?

I've always had a deep connection to nature and the environment. This lifelong passion ignited a strong interest in understanding the complexities of our planet. My biology degree provided a scientific foundation, and my honors thesis on native bee communities opened my eyes to the devastating impacts of climate change on delicate ecosystems, which we rely on to provide food, clean water, and other vital ecosystem services. It became clear that this crisis extends far beyond the natural world, affecting everything from food production, human health, social justice and economics. The urgency of addressing climate change is undeniable, and I'm committed to being part of the solution.

In addition to the immense challenge of preventing and mitigating climate change, the movement's passion and sense of community are incredibly inspiring. It's the collective energy and shared commitment that truly drive me forward!

What are some climate change initiatives you are currently taking part in/are most proud of having contributed to?

I love sharing my passion for climate action! One project I'm particularly proud of is my work on the Ottawa Outdoor Gear Library. As the first staff member, I transformed a room of donated gear into a thriving community resource, partnering with organizations across the city. Even though I moved to Toronto last year, I continue to contribute as a board member. Building something from the ground up and seeing it empower the community, especially marginalized groups, has been incredibly rewarding. It's a perfect example of how circular economy principles can create positive social and environmental impact.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I like to say that I’m in my ~hobby era~.

Outside of my climate work, I love to unwind with creative outlets. I'm a bit of a sewing enthusiast, and I love transforming thrifted finds into unique pieces (and sharing the process on my socials!) When I'm not crafting, you might find me on stage doing improv or taking dance lessons. And to challenge myself mentally, I'm currently diving into Mandarin Chinese.
