Full Name and Title

Ellerie Roberts, Communications and Engagement intern

Short Biography

Ellerie grew up in Seattle and so was lucky enough to be surrounded by the beautiful lakes, mountains and forests of the Pacific Northwest. She is always looking forward to the next time she can go for a hike, sail or kayak, but in the meantime likes to care for her houseplant jungle! She is a third year undergraduate student studying political science, international development and Arabic at McGill, and is looking forward to working with all the amazing and devoted folks who are part of CRPC and the CCH Initiative.

Why did you join the climate movement/what pushed you to become interested in climate change issues?

I've been aware of the need for climate action since before I can remember, but as I've grown up, I’ve realized more and more that awareness isn't enough - as an intern, I'm super excited to have an opportunity to get involved in a meaningful way.

What is one achievement you are proud of?

I'm proud to have received the Lev Bukhman Internship Award this year for my work with CRPC!

What are some climate change initiatives you are currently taking part in?

I'm currently an executive member of the Greenpeace chapter located at McGill, and after my internship I plan to join the Montreal Community Climate Hub as a member!

What do you think is the most effective way for people to take climate action?

I think in their everyday lives people can make choices that reduce their own footprints dramatically, but in the big picture, I think electing officials who make climate action a priority has to be one of the most efficient ways to move sustainability principles into the policy arena.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I played hockey for three years before coming to university!
