Reflecting the sun

I've recently become very passionate for saving our earth, we call home. Knowing that the sun refects off of the glaciers and clouds, etc, I believe that we could cause the sun to refect off of our homes, buildings, etc, by means of trying to cover them with some sort of white reflecting shield. Yet this material would have to be weather durable, and long-lasting it could benifit our climate, and us. If it was only possible to have both in one, we could have white solor panels, which could save energy and use our suns rays in a great and productive way. Still looking into this more, any ideas?
