Idling could be totally eliminated in restaurant drive-thrus if they would be constructed with a slight downward slope. Drivers could put their cars in neutral, turn off the ignition and coast down the drive-through until served.

I've recently become very passionate for saving our earth, we call home. Knowing that the sun refects off of the glaciers and clouds, etc, I believe that we could cause the sun to refect off of our homes, buildings, etc, by means of trying to cover them with some sort of white reflecting shield. Problems

In line with the causes of global warming is primarly due to increased emissions of carbon we burn too much fossil fuel, so in our opinion, the most effective solution is to create a portable generator engine that uses no fuel.

We were among the first at MCC Eco-works, to use a product called "Nutrifor" (you can google it and "Ogogrow" is another) which combines wood chips and human bio-waste to create a super soil. I saw the results of growing plants in this soil, and it's amazing. I asked the FVRD if projects and products like this exist outside of BC, they responded saying "Not that we know of."

Our school, Osgoode Township High School has made it into the finals of the Aviva Contest community fund..  The Aviva contest was a Canada wide contest where schools, students and communities had to vote on the best community based ideas. A total of 20 entries where voted into the finals from a total of over 2000 school and community improvement ideas. We are currently waiting until the end of the month, where we will find out if a panel of celebrity judges will choose our idea over the other…

To save energy, why do we need our street lights on in residential areas? I have a cottage and we don't have street lights here and we manage just fine. Imagine if all the cities around the world turned off their non essential street lights, how much energy we would save.
